Textured Oil Painting | 'Chocolate Mint Explosion II' - 54x24 inches

This is a commissioned painting for an interior designer that is almost ready to ship. I used a color swatch to match the painting, per request. I think that the colors look really good together -- there's even a little grey in there...

Each canvas is 18x24 inches by 1.5 inches deep, and is gallery wrap, with the sides painted. The canvas is stapled on the back, so that the paintings do not need a frame.

I love painting this type of textured oil painting! The only drawback is the drying time (3-5 weeks), but you know what? Before you know it, the time has flown by, and it's ready to ship! Amazing! (maybe it's just me - LOL!)

What sort of oil paints do you use? I've always been told that oil paints should be left to dry for 6 months before they are completely dry. (I know they are touch dry in a week or two)

Looks great by the way.

Hi Zoe,

Thanks for stopping by!

I use professional grade oil paint -- no other solvents or additives.

Yes, it's nice to feel how leathery the dried oil paint is after 6 months or so. But the paint can hold up to shipment after approx 3-5 weeks, depending upon the color, and how the painting is packaged.
