My completed reproduction of an Egyptian Burial tomb wall
This was one of my large-scale projects: (somewhat) replicating a wall from an egyptian burial tomb. This project was done some years ago, and I'm glad to see that the original exhibition is still at the museum...
The original wall is in New York City's
Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue at 82 St. I took reference photos (sans flash) of one of the walls, and of the
reference diagram, shown below:

I also measured the wall's dimensions, and proceeded to reduce the scale somewhat, so as to fit the wall at the reproduction site:

In the photos above, you can see that I have already
chalked the wall where each block will go. I used styrofoam panels to create a raised surface, which was then carved by hand to create the
hieroglyphics and
images. Finally, two coats of acrylic were used to
seal the entire project!
