Today's painting is a comissioned work, on 3 gallery wrap canvases.
'Captured Light' - 72x36 inches -
Saturday, October 27, 2007
I finished this painting today, and I'm really happy that the glowing area at the bottom (that indicates a 'path' toward the sunlight) came out the way that I wanted it to.
This painting is a diptych, and each canvas is 24x36 inches. This ends up being 6 feet wide, and it's a really impressive size, since it's not too high. So you end up with a sort of panoramic feel of the forest!

Today's painting is a large 3 piece abstract painting in acrylic. I used neutral colors today- from sienna to yellow ochre, with black and white line and drips.
'HARMONY' - 36x72 inches
This is a commissioned abstract painting that is on 6 gallery wrap canvases. Colorful, and dynamic, it is named after the South Pole's southern lights. Click here to see NASA's page on the Aurora Australis, along with a movie that shows a satellite capture of one of the events!

Daily Painting - 'STRAND THEORY IN BLUE' - 36 x 72 inches - LaGasse Abstract Art on Gallery Wrap Canvas
It was a rainy day today, and I was feeling a bit blue - ha ha ha! I was feeling great, actually, but decided to paint in blue- so here is my latest drip painting in black, blue and white!

This is my latest painting- a 3 piece acrylic abstract painting in crimson-red and black, with white drip highlights. Controlling the 'drip' in the painting is not as easy as it may seem: you need the correct amount of viscosity within the paint, or the paint will not 'flow' or it may simply 'spread' wide, leaving a flat line.
Jackson Pollock did this well when he was alive. If you have a chance to see one of his works up close, by all means, do. It's awesome. What I'm doing here is similar, but different in several ways. Can you tell what they are? :)

This is a commissioned abstract painting on 3 gallery wrap panels, each measuring 24x36 inches. Multi-colored, and multi-layered, this painting exudes movement!

Commissioned Painting - 'EVENING SPLASH- 18 x 36 inches - LaGasse Abstract Art -Commissioned Acrylic Painting
This is a commissioned acrylic painting of a seaside sunset that combines both warm and cool colors. Painting wet-in-wet with these colors is always a challenge, to avoid making a muddy mess, but the payoff is when I got to do the highlights on the surf- my favorite part!

Well, I finished a large sunset today, and when I say large- I mean, it's 7 feet wide!
There's some kind of blogger bug that won't let me upload the pic right now, but I'll keep trying...
Anyway, it's :
'Canyon Mystique' -(1) 24x36 inch canvas, and (2) 24x30 inch canvases!

This is a commissioned painting that I've been working on, along with several others. I wanted to create that glow of sunlight that filters through clouds as the sun sets.
'Heaven's Gate' - (2) 16x20 inch gallery wrap canvases
Wednesday, October 10, 2007
Today's painting is a huge, 3 piece sunset, with green and ochre hues at the bottom, where the tree overlooks the valley.
A highlight at the top is where the setting sun's rays are glowing through!

Today's painting is an impressionist/abstract landscape. I've been busy finishing up some commissioned work, and I was able to finish this piece today as well.
As you may know, I love painting fiery sunsets in warm, bold colors. This piece leans toward the cool end of the color spectrum, and I've tried to add the same level of drama, or interest, by including the sun's warm glow on the horizon.
You be the judge- click on the image above to see more detail!

Today's painting is a commissioned acrylic painting with plenty of movement and color! As you know, I don't post all of the commissioned works, since I would probably be doing more posting than painting!
While I'm on the subject of commissioned paintings, I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank ALL of you who have ever purchased artwork from us! I know we're going back probably 20 years ha ha, but hold on to your painting- because I'll always have something else up my sleeve! (That's a good thing!)

Today's painting is a crimson sunset with a tree silhouette in the foreground. A swooping skyline creates drama behind this: 'The Tree of Life' - 72x36 inches

This is my painting for today (besides working on commissions!), a blue abstract in acrylic on canvas. Dark blues with black are the main hues, with a hint of luminescent green near the bottom. White highlights create the contrast that make it all work!
The painting continues on the edges, (which I like to do when I can), versus painting them black.
'ICE MOUNTAIN' - 48x36 inches - (1) 24x36 + (2) 12x36 inch gallery wrap canvases.
