This is an abstract seascape that I finished today, after several days of working on it in different stages. This is a colorful sunset with a sailboat silhouette, as well as island and mountain range silhouettes in the distance.
This painting is a triptych (3 canvases), with each canvas measuring 18x24 inches.
'Sail Into the Night' - 54x24 inches - Acrylic on canvas
Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Today's daily painting is an abstract on canvas with blues and green as the dominant colors. Swirls of color are interspersed with shadow and highlights. With a sense of movement, this painting will always keep the viewer's eyes interested in the design within!
'Transitions' - 24x36 inches - acrylic on gallery wrap canvas
Monday, May 26, 2008
This is my latest daily painting, an abstract on canvas that is part of my 'Surreal' series. I like to diversify my work between oils and acrylic, as well as between abstract and landscape paintings, since I'm always trying something new. Hope you like this one!
'Transcendence' - 24x36 inches - acrylic on gallery wrap canvas

An homage to Lady Liberty, this is an abstract painting of the statue in silhouette, against a New York City summer's sunset. The brackish green waters of the Hudson river, reflect from the bottom of the scene, almost as a reminder of the verdigris copper patina of the Statue of Liberty itself.
'Liberty III' - 24x36 inches - Acrylic on canvas
Friday, May 23, 2008
This is a commissioned abstract landscape painting on 3 canvases. Each canvas is 24x36 inches, with an overall size of 72x36 inches.
'Captured Light II' - Acrylic on gallery wrap canvas
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
Today's daily painting is a textured oil painting. It's another entry in my signature 'Fossil Texture' series, so named because the texture resembles a fossil cross-section, or even petrified wood.
Deep browns are blended with burnt sienna, and create a mahogany-like color. Crimson undertones show in some areas, while honey-like ochre adds visual interest by creating highlights in the focal areas.
'Absolut Brilliance' - (2) 18 x 36 inch gallery wrap canvases - textured oil paint
Monday, May 19, 2008
This is an abstract seascape with a crescent moon, and dramatic sky. I usually paint these types of abstracts in acrylic, but decided to paint this in oil.
It's funny how you like certain aspects of each medium, and you hate others. For instance, the quick drying time of acrylic can be both a hindrance, and a godsend, depending upon what you are doing! In this case, the slower drying time of the oil paint was a pleasure!
'Amethystium' - 18 x 36 inches - oil on canvas
Saturday, May 17, 2008
This is a daily painting that I finished today, with blues and lime-green hues. This photo shows a little more white than is actually in the painting itself, but I will correct the photo when I post this painting for sale on the website. This painting is from my signature 'Fossil Texture' series!
This is a textured oil painting that was inspired by the beautiful waters of the Bahamas. Each circle was meticulously created, and it took approximately 6 hours of painting time to blend the colors, and create this painting.
I consider the fossil texture to be the caviar of paintings, since they take so much time to create, and then even more time to dry! (Usually about 5-6 weeks, before they can be shipped. Oil paint can take up to a year [or more] to cure entirely, but may feel dry to the touch while handling carefully).

This is a textured oil painting on 2 canvases (diptych), with warm siennas and dark browns. You'll find the occassional pistachio color in there, as you would in a bag of the shelled variety!
'Purely Pistachio' - 24x36 inches - fossil textured oil on canvas
Monday, May 12, 2008
Today's daily painting is an abstract oil painting on 1 1/2 inch deep gallery wrap canvas. Heavy oil texture was used to create sweeping waves of color. I used several different blue hues to highlight or darken this textured oil painting.
'Shifting Wave' - 24x36 inches - Textured oil on canvas

'Indigo Galaxies' - 48x20 inches - oil on canvas
Saturday, May 03, 2008
This is a warm sunset sky in crimson, reminiscent of the old saying, 'Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning, red sky at night, sailor's delight'! I'm sure that many people have never seen such fiery red sunsets, but I have to say that after spending much time in the tropics, and even now in Florida, red sunsets are truly magnificent!
'Majestic Sunset' - 32x20 inches - oil on canvas
Friday, May 02, 2008
This is a two piece seascape with an indigo/violet sky. I wanted to create a serene mood with this painting, and cool colors usually convey this. My inspiration for this painting was a sunset viewed from Ocean Drive, in Newport, Rhode Island, after a rain storm had passed.
