It's Friday, and I managed to push through another headache. I think it might be the flu or something, but at least I was able to finish this large set. Perhaps the title is an omen that I'll be free of my headaches soon?
As you know, I do all different sizes, but I seem to be on a roll with this format - 48 x36 inches.
I hope you like it, and decide to bid on the auction! It starts tonight at 10:30 EST
Here's my latest painting- an abstract, 3 piece set, measuring 36 x 48 inches.
The center panel is 24x36 inches and the two side panels are 12x36 inches each. These are all gallery wrap canvases, and are ready to hang! Click on the picture to see more, and bid on this auction starting tonight!
This is my painting for today, an 18 x 36 inch sunset in oils. Very rich crimson color. I love crimson, which is why you'll find it many of my paintings. I actually have to hold myself back from using it too much, if you can believe that!
So I've had a splitting headache for a couple of days now, but I've managed to keep pushing on somehow. Maybe it's all the Excedrin's, but you can only take so many before they start burning a hole in your stomach, right?
Maybe it's a brain tumor, you say? Well, maybe it is, but then again, I've been plagued with migraines for most of my life. So much so, that I had a CAT scan several years ago- yeah, back when they called it CAT. Now they just call it CT. Anyway, surprise- no tumor- I'm still here! You're not getting rid of me that fast! Yeah, I know that you're thinking how much more valuable your painting would be if I croaked. But I guess you'll just have to hang in there a little longer. :p
That's right, folks! You'll now see select prints available on Art.com, which will help some of my collectors purchase smaller versions of my art for their collections.
For example, many of my abstract sets are 5 to 6 feet wide. A collector may have only so much wall space, but really like the painting. This is a perfect opportunity to have a smaller version of it, at an affordable price!
If you happen to own one of the original paintings that the print is made from, you'll be happy to know that this makes your painting even more valuable! If you don't yet have your own original, you may want to consider purchasing one. In fact, of the three prints shown above, 2 of the originals are still available!
At first I thought it was a joke: the news about Las Vegas casino owner Steve Wynn accidentally poking a hole into Picasso's famous 'Le Reve' with his elbow, of all things!
But, sure enough, the story turned out to be true! As *Nora Ephron (one of the eyewitnesses to the event, and ) described the event in her blog, Steve was showing off the painting one last time after he sold it for 139 million dollars to a Connecticut billionaire friend of his. Though the accident happened several weeks ago, Nora kept it to herself until someone else leaked the story to the New York Post. She then went public with her account in her blog on Oct 16, 2006.
Needless to say, the sale is off, and the painting is in the shop for repairs. I offered my help in case the restoration proves to be less than satisfactory.
I know about such repairs, because I've accidentally poked holes in some of my own finished works. As it turns out, it's always a good thing, because it gives me an excuse to actually keep some of my own paintings!
I simply cannot find enough hours in the day to paint as much as I would like to. I'm always so busy creating new pieces for sale and commissioned works, that I don't actually get to keep many of my own paintings... Hmm.. I've even thought of trying Leonardo DaVinci's technique of power-napping throughout the day. When I do, I'll let you know how the experiment turns out.
*Nora Ephron - has received Academy Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay for "When Harry Met Sally," "Silkwood," and "Sleepless in Seattle," which she also directed. She lives in New York City with her husband, writer Nicholas Pileggi.
