A New Daily Painting - 'INDIGO SHURIKEN' - ABSTRACT Textured Oil Painting by AJ LaGasse

Here's todays painting- a textured oil painting with deep blues and white highlights that represent a japanese shuriken , used for throwing, and sometimes stabbing. The shuriken was originally used by ninja warriors.

I've been a martial arts enthusiast since my childhood, after watching Bruce Lee on the big screen. His best moves were definitely in 'Enter the Dragon', and although I've had formal training in several styles, I completely understand Bruce's take on creating your own style from many styles. You can never have too much information, and no single style is 'better' than others. For example, his original formal training in Wing Chun never included the types of kicks that he was noted for in his movies. Most of his kicks in the movies were Tae Kwon Do based, IMO. His own style of fighting, Jeet Kune Do, actually discouraged high kicks, since they tend to leave you open to your opponent.

Anyway, check out the painting!
