I love painting this kind of abstract: it conveys a sense of drama and mystery, yet a sense of a 'light at the end of the tunnel', all-is-well feeling to it. I use yellow ochre and alizarin crimson, for the most part, with areas of raw sienna and burnt sienna, to mix things up a bit!
